PENINSULA VILLAGE RETIREMENT CENTRE RETAINS ACCREDITATION

The Peninsula Village Retirement Centre has retained its accreditation, following an audit sparked by claims of sexual assaults on residents.

Last October, nine staff members were stood down and the centre’s director of nursing sacked, after police began investigating several sexual assault allegations.

A review conducted by the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency has found the centre failed two out of 44 benchmarks.

They’re related to staff criminal checks and mandatory reporting.

The agency says adequate procedures are now in place.
