COUNCILS MEET TO DISCUSS PROPOSED MERGER

Senior executives from Newcastle and Port Stephens councils have met to discuss the proposed merger – part of the Premier’s plan to dramatically reduce the number of local councils.

The Newcastle and Port Stephens executives acknowledged the importance of keeping staff informed throughout what is expected to be a lengthy process.

Both parties say they are committed to delivering quality services to the community, and have agreed to continue discussions in the New Year.
