RESCUE SERVICES RETURNED TO AMBULANCE OFFICERS

An unpopular decision by the former New South Wales Health Minister Reba Meagher looks like being overturned.

A leaked Health Services Union email has revealed rescue duties will be returned to the Ambulance Service after they were briefly awarded to the New South Wales Fire Brigades.

  1. Maybe you should have checked your sources before running this story. An email sent to all NSWFB staff today follows:

    “All staff

I am very much aware that rumours have been circulating, together with a copy of an e-mail alleged to have originated from an Ambulance Service union delegate, stating that rescue responsibilities will be returning to the pre-September “status quo” very soon.

I have repeatedly checked with our Minister’s office, which in turn checked with the Health Minister’s office, and have also checked with my State Rescue Board colleagues. This has confirmed that these rumours are just that: rumours, with no foundation.

The only change has been that the Health Minister’s office asked the Health Services Union to confer with the Police Assn and FBEU on the matter to see whether any agreement could be reached. I understand that this has taken place, and that the FBEU stated its strong opposition to a return to the former inefficient rescue arrangements.

The rumours are unsettling, but should be ignored.

Mr Rumball and the HSU have lost all creditability and have been carrying out a vicious smear campaign against NSWFB rescue operators. Enough of thier fairy tales and lets move on to the future with a more efficient rescue service for the people of NSW and Newcastle

  2. Following the news release from the Ministers office an apology to all his members will be forthcoming from Mr, Rumball I take it ???
