  1. Today there was a accident outside my home on the highway in Greta. I saw the results of a micro sleep. It has been the 4th time the Westpak rescue helicopter has landed in Greta this year alone. Not to mention the times it has been required along the Harpers Hill area aswell. The rescue response was so fast and to see the helicopter, Branxon fire brigade, 3 Police cars directing traffic, 2 ambulance and rescue squad was amazing! Not a week after the tragic incident on Harpers Hill resulting in the death of a woman and injuries of others, i think it’s time the people of Greta/Branxton/Harpers Hill areas should start petitioning for safer roads and traffic lights at appropriate areas that have blind spots and impossible highway traffic. As a resident of Greta i have lived on the new england highway for 18 years and i know what it’s like to see tragic accidents outside my home. We hear the tyres scream, then a bang..then the sirens. It happens so often that it is getting ridiculous! It’s time to make the corner of Nelson St Greta and the highway a set of lights. Also a ambulance station positioned in Greta or Branxton would be a life saver! Greta and Branxton are places on the map…not just “somewhere near Maitland”.
