A physiotherapist who helped a double lung transplant patient take part in this year’s Gold Coast Marathon, has been recognised on a national scale for her efforts.
Sally Elsom picked up the ‘I Love My Physio’ award after encouraging Nathan Fitz-Gerald to complete the 5.7 kilometre fun run in June, just three months after his operation.
“Before the transplant and even after, she’s just been persistent, you know, always making me get up and be active. You need that sort of stuff to motivate you. And basically she’s been right behind me the whole way.”
“He hadn’t been very well even after his transplant but he’s so determined and strong that he really worked hard at achieving his goal – it was important to him to get across the line.”

This is really inspiring. The work of Physiotherapist Gold Coast is really important for patients who are suffering from pain and injuries. Patients are also encouraged to be strong and motivated to achieve fast recovery. For many of us especially the patients, Sally Elsom deserves the award.
