METGASCO FOUND DUMPING CSG WASTEWATER INTO CASINO SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT

It’s been revealed Metgasco has been dumping Coal Seam Gas waste water at the Casino Sewage Treatment Plant for almost a year.

The Lock the Gate Alliance suspected Metgasco was removing water from its holding ponds in March and referred the matter to the Environment Protection Authority.

The EPA has now confirmed more than one million litres of Coal Seam Gas wastewater has been disposed of at the plant since March last year.

“They’re prepared to go outside of their licence and what they’re allowed to do as part of their operations, which is a real concern”

Metgasco claims all of it’s operations are approved by Government authorities and have independent technical advice that produced water can be discharged safely into the sewage plant.
