A swimmer has been rescued after going in to the ocean off the back of Newcastle’s Bogey Hole.
According to witnesses the man either jumped into the ocean or was dragged by a wave from the Bogey Hole just before 1pm.
He spent about 20 minutes in the water before he was pulled to safety by a lifesaver from Newcastle Beach on a rescue board.
He was then transferred to a jet ski and taken to Newcastle Beach, tired but ok after the ordeal.
Several police and two ambulance officers were on standby at the Bogey Hole.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was also called in, however the man had been already been pulled to safety when it arrived.
