A 51-year-old man is in hospital with head and hand injuries, following a home invasion at Cessnock last night.
At around 8pm, two men armed with a metal rod and bat, entered a home on Pyne Way and threatened the man and a 39-year-old woman.
Police say the pair hit the man on the head, before stealing cash and fleeing.
The man was taken to Cessnock Hospital and later flown to John Hunter, where he’s in a stable condition.
Detectives are appealing for information to find the two men.
One is described as being of Pacific Islander or Maori appearance with a large build, while the other is believed to be Caucasian in appearance and tall.
