The Office of Environment and Heritage will review its procedures for the handling of land disputes after the shooting death of an officer near Moree this week.
51-year-old Environmental Officer Glen Turner was shot dead while inspecting a contentious land clearing operation at Coppa Creek north of the town. His boss says Mr Turner followed proper procedures.
79-year-old farmer Ian Turnbull has been charged with his murder.
The office’s operations in the area have been suspended as it deals with the death.
