A rock fishermen raised the alarm after finding an injured woman at the base of a cliff at Seal Rocks at around ten this morning.
The 20-year-old woman is believed to have fallen as far as 20 metres down a cliff at the northern end of Number One Beach at Seal Rocks, north of Newcastle.
A rescue team hiked to the scene where the woman suffering multiple injuries, was found lying in a rock pool and worked to stabilise her condition.
Newcastle’s Westpac Rescue helicopter hovered over the rock shelf to winch the patient on board.
She was flown to Newcastle’s John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
