  1. Barnaby Joyce is just not able to think ahead. For the future of our country to be in his hands is such a mistake. The people that voted him in are selfish people only thinking of their own future. Jobs as an excuse for the extinction of our beautiful flora and fauna is unbelievable. It is scare mongering to the extreme, the facts are there is only a few jobs at stake and these people would be well compensated. We ought to be looking at educating and training our young people in sustainable tree farming, science biology solar and wind power and using our intelligence to use our valuable assets to accumulate wealth not to be using it up and giving it away as if it has no value eg. old growth Rainforest trees for toilet paper.

  2. I would rather be spending time addressing the positive work I have done and would hope that visitors could do the same, but it seems not. I have heard and read some of Senator Joyce’s comments and I can say, that they are as always a mixture of irresponsibility and dowright silly. He came here simply to attack me, with short slogans and no solutions to complex challenges we face in our local timber industry and giving effect to environmental concerns. I work with our communituy to address these issues and to ensure we have a sustainable industry. One thing he does want to do though is build 100 dams, and that includes here on the Clarence. It continues the diversion of the Clarence that his party promoted when in Government and Senator Joyce was there. He has also said when asked, well not there, too political, but he would if he could. The people of the Clarence Valley deserve better from Senators who drop in and their Federal National Candidate. I know we can all laugh at Senator Joyce, and I know the media love his colour, they tell me so, but he does not offer sound policies nor make good sense most of the time.

  3. Barnaby is a misinformed National Senator who’s being shipped off to compete for a electorate he has had nothing to do with for 25+ years. I personally cannot see that he has any more of an idea than that which his puppeteers instruct him to!

  4. What else would one expect from the National Party? Why don’t they change their name to The Browns? Because that’s the colour of land after those birdbrains have had their way. The simple fact is that the Nationals and the people they represent are ideologically opposed to the whole idea of nature conservation. Their shallow ecological ethic posits that the earth was put here primarily as a resource for humans and that wild nature is expendable if it serves no purpose for us. They hate National Parks which they describe as land which is “locked up” (their favourite term) and could be better used for grazing, logging, mining etc. Perhaps if the environmental vandals otherwise known the “early settlers” hadn’t destroyed so much of our ancient forests for agriculture, then we’d still have a vast forest resource for both conservation and timber production.
