CHARGES DISMISSED FOR GLENUGIE DEMONSTRATORS

Charges against three demonstrators involved in a blockage outside a coal seam gas test site at Glenugie in January have been dismissed.
A Grafton Magistrate found police had failed to follow procedures and were not acting in the execution of their duty when they arrested the three protestors.
A police officer admitted under oath he did not properly identify himself or adequately warn some of the demonstrators.
Lawyers for the men say the decision could have ramifications for two test cases coming up in July.
