Today one Hamilton South woman was recognised for helping to bring a sense of peace and sanctuary to a public housing block, in the form of a garden.
For 13 years, Fay Rothero has helped other residents plant and maintain a garden, grow vegetables, cook and organise social activities.
State Member for Newcastle Tim Owen presented Ms Rothero with a special Seniors Week certificate for her efforts.
