NINE COUNTS OF BURGLARY LAID OVER ALLEGED BREAK-INS

A man has been charged over a string of break-and-enters on the Gold Coast. Police allege between September 4 and 7, a cafe, hardware store, takeaway store, carwash, tile business, and several restaurants were broken into. In each case, property was stolen. A 33-year-old Marsden man has since been charged with nine counts of burglary, and is scheduled to appear before Southport Magistrates Court on September 21.

DRUGS AND CASH STOLEN FROM GOLD COAST PHARMACY

Methadone and an amount of cash has been stolen from a Gold Coast pharmacy. Police say a man entered the business on Marine Parade in Southport shortly after 5pm yesterday, and proceeded to threaten staff and demand money and methadone. Staff complied, and the man left the store with a sum of cash and a bottle of methadone. No one was injured during the incident.

WOMAN SUSTAINS BURNS IN GOLD COAST UNIT FIRE

Four people have been taken to hospital after a blaze gutted a unit on the Gold Coast overnight. Police say the fire took hold at around 11pm at Government Road address in Labrador. The four people inside at the time managed to flee the unit, and fire crews extinguished the blaze but the building was substantially damaged. A 49-year-old woman sustained burns to her face and smoke inhalation Two 15-year-old boys and a 16-year-old boy were taken to hospital for observation.

CYCLIST KILLED CRASHING INTO PARKED CAR

A male cyclist has died after crashing into a vehicle on the Gold Coast. Police say the accident happened shortly after 9am this morning, when the 75-year-old male cyclist crashed into the rear of a parked car on Hope Island Road in Hope Island. The rider was thrown from his bike and died at the scene. The car was unoccupied at the time.

FIREARMS ALLEGEDLY DISCOVERED BURIED ON STANTHORPE PROPERTY

A cache of firearms and ammunition have been discovered buried on a property near the Queensland-NSW border. Police allege they discovered 11 handguns, two AR15 rifles, and in excess of 10,000 rounds of ammunition, buried in barrels, buckets and tubing on a property twenty minutes outside of Stanthorpe in August. The discovery came as police were conducting follow-up investigations into the 1997 murder of Philip Carlyle. A 66-year-old Reedy Creek man has been charged with major firearms offences relating to the possession of illegal firearms and failure to secure ammunition.

TWO WANTED IN RELATION TO GOLD COAST BREAK INS

Police have release a number of CCTV images as part of their investigations into a string of Gold Coast burglaries. It’s believed thieves often used bricks to gain entry to ten premises including takeaway food outlets, cafes, a hardware store and a medical centre between September 3rd and 7th. The break-ins reportedly occurred at Hope Island, Varsity Lakes, Burleigh Waters, Broadbeach, Miami, Mudgereeba and Southport. Both of the men are described as caucasian, one has dark hair, a short rat’s tail with a tattoo above his left eyebrow and tattoos down both lower legs. They’ve allegedly been using a 2014 grey Range Rover with QLD registration 974 WNH, which was stolen from a residence at Carrara on September 4.

STABBING ACCUSED ALLEGED TO HAVE OMCG LINKS

Two men will face court following the alleged stabbing of a man on the Gold Coast last month. Police say an altercation occurred between two men at a Tequila Court address in Mermaid Waters, shortly after 1am on August 28. During the incident, one man sustained several serious wounds to his arms and torso. Police have now charged two men, aged 28 and 35, with aggravated burglary, and acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm. Police allege that both men have links to the Lone Wolves Outlaw Motorcycle Gang.

DASH CAM FOOTAGE SOUGHT OF VARSITY LAKES CRASH

Information is being sought from the public after a serious traffic crash on the Gold Coast today. Just after 7am, two cars and a utility were involved in a collision at the intersection of Scottsdale Drive and Stapley Drive in Varsity Lakes. A 51-year-old woman was taken to hospital in a serious condition with chest, face and ankle injuries. An 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old man were also taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries. Police are asking anyone who may have captured any dashcam vision of the crash to contact them.

ONE CAR FLIPS AND ANOTHER LOOSES CONTROL ON THE GOLD COAST

A car has flipped onto its roof after being rear-ended by another vehicle on the Gold Coast. Police say the incident happened at around 9:30 last night, when a car that was allegedly weaving in and out of traffic on the M1 Pacific Motorway at Coomera failed to give way to a merging vehicle in front. The car in front has then veered to the right, hitting a guard rail and flipping onto its roof. The first car skidded for approximately fifty metres before spinning 360 degrees on the roadway and coming to a stop. The driver and sole occupant of the first car, a 23-year-old Eagleby man, sustained cuts and abrasions and was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital for observation.
