TWO MEN HOLD UP GOLD COAST TAKEAWAY STORE

Two men have held-up a takeaway store on the Gold Coast overnight. Police say that the men, one armed with a hunting style knife and the other claiming to have a firearm, entered the store on Frank Street in Labrador shortly after 11pm, and demanded cash from the staff. During the robbery, the men also cut the cord to a point of sale computer, possibly believing it was a cash register, and fled the store with the item. The men are described as being aged in their early 20’s, 175 cm tall wearing dark coloured hoodies and had their faces covered. No firearm was actually sighted during the robbery, and the 30-year-old male store employee was not injured.

SIX TEENAGERS CHARGED FOLLOWING ALLEGED GOLD COAST HOLD-UP

Six people have been charged following the alleged armed robbery of a Gold Coast service station early this morning. Police say four people armed with knives and with their faces covered entered the business on Chambers Flat Road in Marsden just before 4am. The group allegedly threatened a staff member, before fleeing in a stolen vehicle with cash and cigarettes. No one was injured during the robbery. A short time later police allegedly located the stolen vehicle at the rear of an Eliza Court address. Two 17-year-old males and an 18-year-old man have been charged with one count each of armed robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. Two boys, aged 14 and 15, and a 15-year-old girl, will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.

CCTV RELEASED FOLLOWING GOLD COAST SCHOOL FIRE

Police on the Gold Coast have released CCTV footage as their investigations into a school fire last year continue. The building at a school on Tallebudgera Creek Road in Tallebudgera was set alight around 11pm on April 25 in 2016. The building was extensively damaged, and police deemed the fire as suspicious. CCTV recovered at the time showed four persons walking away across the school oval as the fire took hold of the buildings Information is now sought in relation to their identity, and anyone who might have information about the matter should contact police.

GOLD COAST PEDESTRIAN SERIOUSLY INJURED AFTER BEING STRUCK BY VEHICLE

A pedestrian suffered serious head injuries early today when they were struck by a vehicle on the Gold Coast. Shortly after 1:30am, police say the vehicle was travelling on the Gold Coast Highway at Miami, when it hit the 32-year-old male. He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment. The driver of the vehicle is assisting police with their inquiries.

MAN ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTS POLICE ON THE GOLD COAST

A man has allegedly assaulted police after being apprehended for dangerous driving on the Gold Coast. Police say just before midnight last night, the man entered a stolen vehicle at a Broadbeach shopping centre carpark and drove in a dangerous manner on Victoria Avenue. After losing control of the vehicle and hitting a kerb, the man allegedly attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by police a short time later. The 23-year-old man is also accused of punching a police officer during the arrest. The man, from Robina, was charged with dangerously operating a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, stealing, receiving tainted property, driving under the influence of liquor, and assaulting police.

CHARGES LAID OVER ALLEGED GOLD COAST VANDALISM

Three men will face court after property was allegedly vandalised on the Gold Coast. Police say fences, walls, and vehicles in the Pimpama Rivers Estate at Ormeau were allegedly sprayed with graffiti around 10pm on June 30. Three men, aged 19, 20, and 21, have since been charged with wilful damage, and possessing graffiti instruments. All three are expected to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on July 31.

IMAGES RELEASED FOLLOWING ALLEGED GOLD COAST EXPOSURE

Police have released images of a man they wish to speak with in relation to investigations of an alleged wilful exposure on a Gold Coast bus. In March this year, police say a man sitting across from a woman allegedly exposed himself to her on a bus that was travelling from Broadbeach to Tweed Heads. The incident occurred around 6.30am on Friday March 17. The man is described as aged between 25 to 35 years, Caucasian with a large build and dark coloured hair. Police believe the man uses public transport and may frequent the Broadbeach, Coolangatta and Tweed Heads areas.

PASSENGER KILLED IN GOLD COAST VEHICLE ACCIDENT

A woman in her 50’s has died after the car she was in left the road and hit a tree on the Gold Coast. Police believe the vehicle was travelling west on The Panorama in Tallai around 8pm last night, when it left the road and crashed into a tree. A 57-year-old Mudgeeraba woman, who was a passenger in the car, died at the scene. The male driver has been taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

TWO IN CUSTODY FOLLOWING GOLD COAST VEHICLE SEARCH

Police have allegedly discovered stolen property, drugs, and firearms during a vehicle search on the Gold Coast. In the early hours of this morning, police saw a vehicle parked near the intersection of Zane Street and Ashmore Road in Molendinar. Police say when they approached, three men jumped out of the vehicle and ran away. After a short foot chase, two of the men were taken into custody. Police will allege they found stolen property, drugs, two firearms and ammunition during a search of the vehicle. A 31-year-old man from Worongary and a 28-year-old Nerang man have been charged a number of weapon and drug related offences. Both are due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow.
