WOULD-BE GOLD COAST ROBBER COMES AWAY EMPTY-HANDED

Gold Coast police are on the lookout for a man after an attempted hold up a service station over the weekend. Around 3.30am on Sunday, a man entered the Marine Parade business in Southport, armed with a large knife. He threatened staff and demanded cash, but fled the scene empty-handed. No one was injured. The man was wearing dark jeans, a long-sleeved dark top and had a black shirt wrapped around the lower part of his face.

FEMALE GOLD COAST ESCAPEES ON THE RUN

Two female prisoners are on the run after escaping from a low custody facility in the Gold Coast hinterland. Charlotte Bowman, 19, and Jahnessa Jerome, 24, went missing from the Numinbah Correction Centre just before midnight last night. Bowman is serving one year for common assault while Jerome is serving one year and three months for assaulting police. Bowman is described as having a fair complexion, blonde hair, and is 160cm tall. She has the tattoo “CODIE” on her left wrist and “RJB” on her right wrist. Jerome is described as having a dark complexion and dark hair with red colour through it. She is 173cm tall with two heart tattoos on her left hand, the word “DAMIEN” tattooed on her left inner forearm. She also has a heart/scroll tattoo on her left elbow area.

GOLD COAST MAN TO BE EXTRADITED OVER $1.5 MILLION FRAUD CHARGES

A Gold Coast man will be extradited to New South Wales for an outstanding warrant relating to fraud charges, police allege total $1.5 million. Strike Force Apron commenced an investigation following reports a man was operating a scam. Following inquiries, a 54-year-old man was arrested yesterday at Paradise Point on the Gold Coast. Sydney detectives will travel to Queensland and apply for his extradition on Monday.

TWO BODIES FOUND IN GOLD COAST HOME

Two bodies have been discovered by police inside a Gold Coast home. The bodies were found this morning at an address in Pimpama, 30 kilometres north of Surfers Paradise, around 6.30am AEST. Police have been unable to confirm details and detectives are at the scene. Paramedics were also called to the scene but an ambulance spokeswoman said they were not required to transport anyone to hospital.

MAN UNDERGOES SURGERY AFTER SHOOTING ON THE GOLD COAST

Police have shot a man on the Gold Coast, after he allegedly confronted them with a weapon. Police were called to the corner of Cyprus Avenue and Ferny Avenue in Surfers Paradise at about 1.30am this morning, after a building alarm sounded. Police say a number of shots were fired, with at least one hitting the man. The man is believed to be known to police, and has undergone surgery for non-life threatening injuries. He remains in a stable condition. A female constable is also in a stable condition after being treated for shock and grazes.

OPERATION MELYA LEADS TO ARREST OVER FOUR ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULTS

A man has been arrested over four alleged sexual assaults from 2008 to 2016 on the Gold Coast. As part of Operation Melya, police arrested a 50-year-old Gold Coast man this morning. The four incidents are alleged to have taken place in the Gold Coast, Logan and south Brisbane. Police say the man is likely to be charged with a large number of offences and will appear in court on Monday, January 23. Detectives are investigating a further eight offences dating back to 2005. Operation Melya commenced in February 2016, utilising the resources of the State Crime Command’s Sexual Crime Group, and forensic and intelligence officers
