FALLEN PEACEKEEPERS HONOURED

Australian peacekeepers who’ve died on overseas service will now be recognised on the Australian War Memorial’s Roll of Honour.

21-year-old Beau Pridue, from Newcastle, died in a truck accident in East Timor while on a peacekeeping mission in 2011.

His name along with 47 others will be included on a new plaque recognising their service and sacrifice at the War Memorial in Canberra.

Previously only those who died in warfare had been included on the Roll of Honour.

A petition of 41,0000 signatures calling for recognition was presented to the War Memorial Council ahead of today’s decision.
