INVERELL RESIDENTS CONTINUE TO FIGHT FOR LONDON PLANE TREES

The plan to remove Inverell’s London Plane Trees as part of an effort to renew the town’s CBD has long concerned residents.

That work is now well underway on Campbell Street, and one community group is ramping up it’s social media campaign against the move.

  1. This is a disgraceful comment from a mayor, firstly that council doesn’t care what the residents think and secondly that there are no solutions for the supposed damage caused by the plane trees. Why are plane trees the most popular street trees in the world? Melbourne streets are lined with them and they are still planting them quite close to buildings. If Inverell Council simply contacts Melbourne Council they might be able to learn some of the procedures that can be successfully carried out. Many of the arguments given by council are based on fiction. Come on Inverell. Stop being stubborn and stop wasting ratepayers money on things that are highly unpopular such as the central median strip.
