TIGHTENING ARMIDALE’S SECURITY BELT
Meanwhile, Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall is celebrating a boost to the security of Armidale’s courthouse, with the installation of a mobile metal detector screening system.
The tightening of security is thanks to $67,000 in state funding to better equip courthouses across the state.
Flak jackets will also be supplied to all sherriff’s officers.
The security measures come alongside a campaign for additional court resources, to deal with the mounting backlog of District Court cases.
“Really, this investment makes a lot of sense, given that from next year we’re actually going to have a district court judge based permanently in our region – this security upgrade is quite timely,” he said.
