Macksville’s aquatic centre has a new operator after the Nambucca Shire Council
last night voted to award the contract to the Sydney-based WMCA organisation.
Former operators, Mark and Gail Cummings, lost their bid to retain control over the centre which they have run for the past 12 years.
A council spokeman said the YMCA bid was $71,000 cheaper than the Cummings’ tender.
The new contract will save the cash-strapped council an estimated $350,000 over five years.
