When news of Mason’s decision broke on NBN News last night, Knights coach Rick Stone admits he was left flat and his players were just as disappointed.
Newcastle thought they had their man but it appears Mason baulked at the idea of a contract with added conduct clauses at the Knights.
Although Stone is keen to pursue another forward, he remains happy with the squad he’s got, dismissing suggestions Mason chose the Cowboys on the strength of their forward pack.
