A man is recovering in Coffs Harbour hospital after a head-on collision at Macksville this morning.
The man, believed to be in his sixties, sustained shoulder injuries when his car crossed to the wrong side of the road and collided with a semi-trailer, near the northern approach to the Macksville Bridge.
The truck suffered extensive damage and forced the closure of the Pacific Highway for around two hours.
Fire and rescue personnel managed to contain a fuel spill which threatened to pollute the Nambucca River.
