MAN CHARGED AFTER BEING CHASED BY POLICE

Police have charged a man after he allegedly lead police on a chase through Argenton overnight.

Officers pulled over the 28-year-old while he was driving along Lake Road around 10pm, however when police attempted to speak with him, he reportedly fled the scene on foot.

The man allegedly jumped several fences before police caught up with him on William street, Argenton.

The 28-year-old was charged with five offences including driving while disqualified, giving false details to police, malicious damage, trespass and breaching bail.

He has been refused bail and will appear at Newcastle Local Court today.
