High temperatures in the north west have forced Narrabri Shire Council to introduce level-two water restrictions.
The hot weather has seen consumption double in the past fortnight.
The mayor, Robyn Faber, says the town’s bore pumps are struggling to keep up with demand.
Sprinklers are banned between six and eight at night.
