MAIL CENTRE AND GROW HOUSES TARGETED BY GOLD COAST POLICE

A week-long targeted operation by Queensland police has netted cannabis and other drugs believed to have been bound for schoolies celebrations.

In one instance, 13 packages containing drugs were allegedly detected in a Gold Coast mail centre, including cannabis, and performance and image enhancing drugs .

Police also say they seized 91 cannabis plants and 25 kilograms of dried cannabis while executing search warrants at nine premises on the Gold Coast between Monday and Thursday this week.

Eight people were charged with 25 charges as police targeted suspected “grow houses”.

Along with other police operations, more than $5-million worth of cannabis and other drugs were seized
