‘SUPERMAN’ PILLS LEAVE 11 HOSPITALISED

11 people were hospitalised following suspected drug overdoses in Newcastle last weekend.

Police say the 10 men and one woman were admitted between 11pm Friday and 9pm Monday, after ingesting what’s believed to be a blue tablet bearing a Superman ‘S’ symbol.

It’s prompted a warning to the community about the dangers of taking illicit drugs.

“This is another clear example of the dangers of taking illicit drugs,” said Inspector Shane Buggy from Newcastle Police.

“You never know what it is in the pill you are about to take or what it may or may not contain. You will never know how your own body may react with any substance you might take; whether you have consumed illicit substances before or not.”

Anyone with information regarding the source of the tablet is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
