Newcastle basketballers Katie Ebzery and Suzy Batkovic are on their way to Rio for the Olympic test event, which tips off on January 15.
Batkovic left Townsville late yesterday, alongside WNBL clubmate, Cayla George.
Having missed a host of Opals camps to rest a back injury in 2015, Suzy is keen to build on her rapport with teammates, and coach Brendan Joyce.
“For me it’s still learning what he’s all about and what he wants, adjusting to the way he coaches, definitely the last 6 months helped me.”
Over the weekend, Batkovic put in another massive effort for Townsville, racking up 26 points and 10 rebounds against the South East Queensland Stars.
But her efforts proved in vain, with the visitors running out winners by 10 points.
