The Hunter’s Suzy Batkovic remains sidelined with a neck injury – she’ll miss the Townsville Fire’s WNBL clash with Canberra in the nation’s capital tonight. Batkovic aggravated the injury earlier this month in a loss to the Melbourne Boomers, and is yet to return to the court. A few days after breaking the all-time scoring record in the WNBL, the Hunter’s Suzy Batkovic has aggravated a neck injury and missed most of Townsville’s clash with Melbourne. Batkovic was a frustrated spectator as the Boomers beat her Fire by six points last night. The 37 year old will have scans tomorrow, but is hoping to return for Friday’s clash with Adelaide. ANOTHER RECORD FOR SUZY BATKOVIC

Suzy Batkovic is regarded as the greatest WNBL player of all time, and now she has another record to prove it. The five-time MVP last night became the highest point-scorer in the league’s history, posting her five thousand-eight-hundred-and-twenty-fourth point, in front of a rapturous Townsville crowd. BATKOVIC SIGNS ON FOR ONE MORE SEASON WITH TOWNSVILLE

She said she’d be staying put after another WNBL title.. and today it became official. The Hunter’s Suzy Batkovic has re-signed with the Townsville Fire for one more year. The six-time MVP and current club captain will spearhead the Fire’s title defence next season. In the meantime, she’s also taken up a contract to play in France. The 37-year-old has subsequently ruled out a return to the national side for the Commonwealth Games.

HUNTER BASKETBALLERS HELP TO LAUNCH WNBL SEASON IN MELBOURNE

Hunter basketballer Suzy Batkovic has used the launch of this year’s WNBL season in Melbourne, to make a bold claim about Townsville’s chances. “Who’s the team to beat in this year’s WNBL season? Us! I’m always going to back us. Ha ha ha.” Batkovic was joined by fellow Hunter product Katie Rae Ebzery, who was representing Sydney Uni. The WNBL season begins on October 5 – Batkovic and Ebzery will cross paths for the first time when the Fire hosts the Flames on the 19th.
