NEW BIKES FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES
For many of us, learning to ride a bike is just a part of growing up – but for some children with disabilities, that simple pleasure remains a dream.
Today though it came true for two kids, with Coal Services providing them with customised bikes, thanks to funds raised through last year’s Live for Kids Cycle Classic.
The charity, founded by Simon Burt and his wife Gwendalyn, raises money to support children’s health in the Hunter.
“We get to see the benefit and smile on kid’s faces and they’ve never ridden a bike before, put them on for the very first time and as you can see they’ve taken off.”
Seven-year-old Ella Lauder suffers from scoliosis and will undergo her 41st operation this Friday.
With her favourite colour being purple, she was clearly happy with her new set of wheels.
