MURDER CHARGES LAID AFTER GOLD COAST HOUSE FIRE

UPDATE: A man has been charged with murder following a house fire on the Gold Coast this morning.

Emergency services responded to reports of a fire at a home on Bushmead Street at Nerang, around 1:30am.

A 26-year-old Nerang man was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, but he passed away this morning.

Police have now charged a 22-year-old Nerang man with murder.

He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court on Monday.

UPDATE: A 26-year-old man has died as a result of burns he sustained in a house fire on the Gold Coast.

The blaze took hold at around 1:30 this morning at a home in Nerang.

The man was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, but he passed away this morning.

Police have taken a 22-year-old man into custody.

A man has suffered serious burns in a house fire on the Gold Coast.

Police say the fire broke out around 1:30 this morning at a home on Bushmead Street at Nerang.

A 26-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment of serious burns and he remains in a critical condition.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the blaze.
