Gold Coast police expect to lay charges against a man over a deprivation of liberty and assault incident early this morning.
Police allege the 29-year-old man attempted to flood the inside of a residence and set fire to property at an address on Hanlan Street in Surfers Paradise, shortly after midnight.
A woman in her 20s attempted to leave, but police say the man threatened her with knives and forcibly prevented her from leaving.
It’s also alleged he spat at officers while they tried to restrain him.
The woman was uninjured during the incident.
