A 48-year-old man will face Newcastle Local Court after allegedly assaulting a paramedic, while receiving treatment at the Mater Hospital overnight.
The man was taken to the hospital by an ambulance shortly after 9pm and was waiting in the triage area before he attempted to get off the trolley.
It’s alleged a 41-year-old paramedic attempted to steady the trolley before he was punched twice in the face by the patient.
The man was restrained and the paramedic was treated for minor injuries.
The man was later arrested and charged with assault, he’ll face his charges next month.
