A 54-year-old truck driver is recovering in Coffs Harbour hospital after he miraculously escaped serious injury, when his truck crashed on the Pacific Highway at around 2.30 this morning.
The semi-trailer crashed through a railing at the intersection of the Pacific Highway and Sawtell road.
It then ploughed more than 100 metres through thick bush, bringing down trees before plunging down a six metres high embankment.
The mangled remains of the cabin finally coming to rest in a creek bed.
The driver escaped the incident with relatively minor injuries and is now in a stable condition.
