Two hospitalised after truck crash

Two teens have been treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics after a crash involving a truck and a 4WD at Cardiff Heights in Lake Macquarie this morning.

The driver of the 4WD was trapped in his vehicle on Wallsend Rd for an hour before receiving treatment.

Both patients were taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition, one with minor leg injuries and one with minor injuries.

“NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived to find the 4WD badly damaged and the driver pinned in the vehicle,” NSW Ambulance Inspector Jason Safer said.

“It was an incredibly delicate operation to free him. Fire and Rescue NSW did an excellent job cutting through the vehicle and removing the roof so that we could reach the patient.”
