OVERSIZED TRUCK GROUNDED AT CARRINGTON

An oversized truck has been grounded and issued a major defect notice after being stopped in Carrington early this morning.

Police and RMS inspectors found the truck’s load was too wide and too long, and did not comply with the original permit.

They also found the rear push truck that was assisting in the move, had no rear marker or warning sign and had a substantial weight breach on the steer axle.

Traffic and Highway Patrol Commander, Assistant Commissioner John Hartley, says that any oversize moves must be done safely, and within the conditions of the permit issued for such loads.

“The Joint Heavy Vehicle Taskforce will continue to focus on oversize/overmass load and permit compliance across NSW for the benefit of road safety for all road users.” he said.
