LOCAL YOUNGSTERS PUT TO WORK IN THE GREEN ARMY

Eight projects in the Northern Rivers will benefit from the government’s Green Army initiative set to be begin this month.

As part of the program, hundreds of young locals between 17 and 24 will work on environmental projects.

“We have some riverbank restoration work going on out at Tabulam, we have Susan Island in Grafton which is going to have walkways re-done weed control and also some revegetation done there and different areas around the Lismore shire and Ballina shire as well with wetlands.”

While working as part of the Green Army, participants will receive training and support to enter the workforce.
