WARATAH HOUSE GUTTED BY FIRE

A Waratah home’s been badly damaged by fire this morning.

A passerby raised the alarm shortly after 6am, when they noticed flames coming from the Ada Street property.

Seven fire trucks along with HAZMAT vehicles responded.

It took crews just over half an hour to gain the upper hand, managing to stop the fire from spreading to neighbouring homes.

A search of the home confirmed no one was inside at the time.

The fire has all but gutted the single level property – destroying two rooms along with the ceiling and roof cavity.

Police are investigating the blaze, with forensic crews spending much of the morning searching for evidence.

The cause of the fire isn’t yet known.
