Nurses Association members say they’ll begin closing beds in John Hunter Hospital from Monday, as part of industrial action to secure a ratio of one nurse to every four patients.
One in four beds will be affected in non-emergency wards, and will be closed as patients are discharged.
More than 150 beds have now been closed in 18 hospitals across the state, and nurses say they’re prepared to wage a long campaign.
