School students and union members protested at Nobbys Beach today, against the federal government’s plans for a new gas-fired power station in the Hunter.
Part of a national day of action – designed to work within covid restrictions – the group called for Canberra to alternatively fund a renewable energy source in the region.
Under the government’s plan, the gas-fired plant would replace the capacity lost when Liddell Power Station closes in 2023.
