GLASSING INCIDENT LEAVES MAN REQUIRING SURGERY

Police are on the lookout for a man after a glassing incident near Port Stephens overnight which left a man requiring surgery.

Just before 9pm, police say two men became involved in an altercation at a licensed premises on Stockton Street in Nelson Bay.

During the altercation, a 30-year-old man was struck to the side of his face with a schooner glass, causing a severe laceration to his right ear

The other man, who had suffered an injury to his hand, was evicted by staff but left the scene before police arrived.

It’s believed the two men are known to each other.

The injured man was treated by paramedics before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital where he will undergosubbed surgery.
