COUNCIL TO INVESTIGATE NEW OPTIONS FOR PELICAN BOAT RAMP

Lake Macquarie Council has dismissed a state government recommendation to move Pelican boat ramp to the middle of a popular beach.

Instead, it’s put forward four alternative options, following an overwhelming response from the community.

Naroo is an existing ramp separate and isolated from other Pelican sites, and I believe the old Pelican marina site has been avoided to make way for another NSW Gov, project on the drawing board. while the closed ramp could be cut back into land it would probably still need a slight dredge & rock wall either side, which then leaves one next to Marine Rescue building & jetty (east side) or a ramp into the backwaters East of present swimming spot, with plenty of trailer parking near bushland away from kid’s playground & swimming beach.
