CALLS FOR GAS GIANTS TO RELINQUISH EXPLORATION LICENSES IN MOREE

The Member for Northern Tablelands, Adam Marshall, has called on two of the country’s largest gas companies to relinquish their petroleum exploration licences in the Moree Plains Shire.

Gas giants, Comet Ridge and SANTOS, have announced their intent to resume exploration activity and renew three of their shared licences in the region.

It comes just two weeks after SANTOS was granted conditional approval to proceed with its $3.6-billion Narrabri Gas Project.

“We don’t need the pel’s, we don’t need the uncertainty. What we do need is for those pel’s to be removed for good, so that the Northern Tablelands is finally absolute rolled-gold, gas free.”

Mr Marshall has written to the CEO’s of both companies to discuss the matter.
