THREE RESCUED AFTER COLD NIGHT IN THE WATAGANS

Three people including a pregnant woman have been found safe and well after their four-wheel drive became bogged deep in the Watagan State Forest, west of Lake Macquarie late last night.

The 26-year-old driver, his expectant wife, and another female who is a diabetic, had no food or water. They were located this morning by police and volunteer rescuers.

The trio had driven for around two and a half hours before getting stuck in a deep puddle on Lemon Tree Road.

Their vehicle was eventually winched out.

Police are urging four-wheel-drive owners to be prepared for worst-case scenarios and take the correct equipment and supplies.
