DRAFT PLAN FOR NAMBUCCA SHIRE FLYING FOX ISSUE

The issue of flying fox colonies in the Nambucca Shire is now the subject of a draft
plan of management by the council.

A long term colony at Bowraville continues to cause concern for residents who live nearby.

Tree planting programs and other measures are being trialled in an attempt to lure the bats away from residential areas.

Another colony in a rainforest at Gordon Park in Nambucca Heads is also posing problems for residents and people using nearby tennis courts.

The council is seeking permission from the state and federal governments to move the bats on.
