Anyone out for a stroll on the Nobbys Breakwater today was treated to the sight of an Australian fur seal sunning itself on the rocks.
The seals frequent waters between Seal Rocks on the mid north coast and Tasmania, and sometimes take a break in Newcastle from rough and chilly winter sea conditions.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service is advising people not to approach the seals – and keep dogs on a leash around them.
