A proposal to build a function centre at the old Newcastle Bowling Club site came under fire from 50 protesters this afternoon.
“We’re afraid that it may ultimately end up as a pub, a venue for selling alcohol without food.”
Developer Keith Stronach says the claim isn’t true, and that the proposal more than complies with the site’s plan of management.
“It won’t be open to the public as in a bar, it will be open to the public as a function centre.”
