KEMPSEY WOMAN AWAKES TO FIND INTRUDER IN HOME

A Kempsey woman was awoken early yesterday morning to find an unknown male armed with a knife in her room.

Around 5.30am yesterday, the 61-year-old woman woman was sleeping in a granny flat at the back of a home on River Street, when she was awoken by the intruder, who assaulted her and demanded property.

The woman handed over cash and two silver bracelets, before the man fled.

Detectives would like to speak to the male involved, who is described as being of Caucasian appearance, slim build, about 160cm tall, and wearing a dark-grey hoodie, dark tracksuit pants and socks.
