The Northern Rivers Lock the Gate Alliance claims that to release conventional gas from a well earmarked for Casino, Metgasco will have to use hydraulic fracturing.
The company announced it will be recommencing operations on the Northern Rivers yesterday.
“They will be going for the deeper coal seams and they are tighter and will make it harder to get the gas out and will require fracking.”
Metgasco says it doesn’t intend to frack the well, but it won’t rule out using the method in the future.
