TEEN CHARGED AFTER POLICEWOMAN HIT WITH GLASS BOTTLE

A teenager will face court on several assault charges after a policewoman was hit with a glass bottle on the Mid North Coast.

Last night police arrested a 17-year-old male at a service station in South Kempsey, after taking items off the shelves and smashing them on the floor.

Police took him home, where they arrested a 43-year-old woman over an unrelated domestic incident.

While that arrest was taking place, police say the boy threw a glass beer bottle at the officers, hitting a female Senior Constable in the face.

Officers took the woman to Kempsey Police Station, before returning to the Crescent Head home.

Police say they were forced to subdue the boy after he pushed another officer in the chest.

He was taken to the police station and charged with two counts of assaulting an officer in the execution of duty, resisting an officer in execution of duty, destroying or damaging property and behaving in an offensive manner.
