NEW RECORD SET AT PINK SILKS RACE DAY

Coffs Harbour Trainer Gordon Yorke is celebrating, after his horse ‘One Lickety Split’, broke the record in the 1200 metre feature race at Coffs Harbour’s Pink Silks Day.

The five-year-old horse outclassed a field of quality sprinters to set the new record of 1-minute and 10.32 seconds.

But it wasn’t all about the racing, with around 2000 people packing the racecourse in a sea of pink.

And while the Fashions on the Field drew plenty of attention, it was all for a good cause with around $50,000 raised for local women’s health charities and breast cancer research.

Organisers say after the big clean-up, they’ll begin preparations for the other big race day of the year – the Coffs Cup Carnival in August.
