The O’Farrell Government has nominated the Hunter to be the first place in New South Wales to get the new national disability insurance scheme.
The state believes the region is the best place to start the rollout next year, given its mix of rural and metropolitan settings.
If the federal government agrees, the Hunter will also be in line for increased investment in disability services.
