PREGNANT WOMAN IN HOSPITAL AFTER SNAKE BITE

A pregnant woman has been flown to Lismore Base hospital, after being bitten by a snake at Mallanganee this afternoon.

The 27-year-old, who is six months pregnant, was bitten on the foot in a front yard and is currently in a stable condition.

The snake hasn’t been identified, but is described as brown in colour.

  1. Please have a look at a website by an organisation called working with Wildlife if there is the slightest chance that you could come into contact with a snake. They provide information on snakes, their actions when they come into contact with people and things you can do to reduce the chances of being bitten by one. You can do training courses on snake awareness and snake relocation, you can get things like e-Books and first aid kits from them and you can even download snake bite first aid instructions for free. It is a really good site on this subject.

  2. I am very disappointed in NBN for running the Coal Seam Gas promotional ads. CSG is one of the biggest threats to our health, livelihoods, environment and communities we have ever experienced. I have to smile when the man says “We want what Qld has”. Ask southern Queenslanders and they would say “OH no you don’t”. The ad does not show it as it really is. Please look at an aerial photo of the Tara, Qld area to see what it really looks like. Then let your conscience be your guide and take the ad off please.
